Tonight, August 3rd, Darkfloor Live is very happy to present techno heavyweight Inigo Kennedy and the dynamic Phat Chex. As ever it will be a loud, intimate and free evening of forward thinking techno, electro and bass.
We are also launching our Darkfloor Sound label with Phat Chex’s Distant EP available to buy on the night.
Inigo Kennedy (2 hrs on 3 decks)
Phat Chex (2hrs)
One of the UKs best techno producers and one of its finest DJs; it is a huge pleasure to present the skilled cerebral explorer Inigo Kennedy. We showcased him on our Mantis Radio show way back in 2010 having been following his work for a few years prior. He is without doubt one of a rare breed; a DJs DJ.
Be that tracks released through his own netlabel Asymmetric or on Belgium’s Token, Birmingham’s Rodz Konez, Spain’s Semantica, Berlin’s Stroboscopic Artefacts and beyond. His DJ sets are revered and talking points for clubbers and established DJs and performers. To have him perform at such an intimate space is a very special treat indeed. And he’ll be doing a 2 hour, 3 deck set special for us. Do not miss this.
Joining him we welcome Phat Chex. A producer who regular listeners to our Mantis Radio show will be familiar with. He joins us from the south coast to celebrate his debut EP release Distant, and to launch our record label: Darkfloor Sound. CDs will be available on the night and direct from us online.
His Distant EP is just the start of a producer to watch. Last month saw his track Full Flight From Reality released on Pyramid Transmissions 2 disc Interstellar Communications Vol 1 vinyl compilation and he’ll also be seen on Applepips wax in the coming months.
From the deep broken step of opener Ankylosaurus Magniventris to mighty PA testing acid infused roller Uncertain Future. Puxton Bridge melds trippy vocal work into a dark dystopia. Kitchen Sync goes deep and wide with a beautiful oceanic trip of far off places, a properly serene piece of work.
Closer Cumberland Vibe goes deeper still and on vocals is Phat Chex himself with a pensive piece of meditative percussion bubbling underneath. We couldn’t think of a better track of his to close a stunning piece of work. When he’s not producing some frankly great music, Phat Chex is a great DJ as his set this Friday will attest.
Darkfloor Live is a free monthly pre-club space presenting some of the best producers and sounds that constitute darkfloor electronica.
Located right by London Bridge station.
