Episode 82
June 12, 2025

On the show today, music from The Beach Boys, Massive Attack, Nitzer Ebb, and Source Direct.

A track from Loscil’s new album starts the show, before we roll into some lovely dub techno from Lithuania’s Pagalve, and early material from The Orb. This week has been marked by the death of Brian Wilson, legendary creative force behind the iconic Beach Boys, and Douglas McCarthy, vocalist and frontman of Nitzer Ebb. Both are featured on this edition of show.

Elsewhere you’ve music from J. J. Cale. John Zorn, and Texan band Loma. Massive Attack gets the reversion treatment from Mad Professor. I play yet more Emma-Jean Thackray. There’s something from the excellent NEW album from Pulp. You’ve The Dandy Warhols, covering Gang of Four. UNKLE. Ireland’s Sound Breaking Sky reworking Kim Wllde. Yes. That Kim Wilde.

Plus, The Who. Shellac. And Niagara. Before a drum heavy finale featuring Roni Size, Sully, Total Science, and Source Direct.

Listen Live Thursdays 10am on Twitch.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.

The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.
