episode 131
The experimental folk drone of the Ontario based, Canadian born musician Michael Cloud Duguay starts the show, with a piece from his latest album. I’ve a cut from the Italian producer Tomat’s latest too, a piece around memory and liminal emotional recall.
From one of my favourite albums by Radiohead I play a beautiful instrumental piece. Plus there’s the garage rock of New York’s Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Later in the show, there’s fellow New Yorkers De La Soul, and a cut from their album of last year.
Dorothy Ashby takes us into her spiritual jazz world, with a piece from 1969 on which she performs with Japan’s national instrument, the Koto. We make yet another visit to Detroit, with an old cut from Jeff Mills as Millsart.
We’ve brand new music from Sleep, ahead of their upcoming new album in September. Which features Melvins drummer Dale Crover and Void guitarist Bubba Dupree.
Real World Records are releasing a new and possibly final release from the English writer and pop singer, Sheila Chandra. A compilation of her live performances from throughout her career up until she lost her voice and from which I have a track to share.
Berlin’s Dis Fig has a new album out soon. And yes you’ll hear the heavy first cut from it. I cannot wait for that to drop in October. Plus, I’ve a great dub techno cut from Charles A.D’s latest album to get deep into.
We revisit an old prog house classic, and favourite of Sasha, from London trio Fluke. A late 90s drum & bass cut from Q Project gets a 2026 remaster. There’s the dub fuzz of Delroy Wilson, with a track from 1973.
It wouldn’t be Mornings With without some jazz squeezed in somewhere, and this week, I’ve got Texan saxophonist Elias Haslanger and a cut from his new record. I revisit Laura Misch’s beautiful new record Lithic. And play you a track from Grandma Love – a light, ambient-meets-breakbeat project from Bristol’s dark dread & bass producer Karkossyn.
We’ve a Moby classic remixed by Rob Dougan. The latest from Efdemin. And Norway’s Anja Garbarek featuring Mark Hollis.
Barker remixes synth gods Tangerine Dream. Stunning as you’d expect. There’s the brand new single from Salford psych rocker Gnod. Plus, a cut from the Brooklyn shoegaze, dream, rock group GIFT. All before we close with an early track from Autechre.
Thanks for listening, and reading this far. Have a lovely day.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.
The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.
