Yes it is another episode of my weekly show Mornings With. And this week’s episode features Alice Coltrane, Eric Andre’s BLARF, Fiona Apple, Goblin Cock, and Moby. With Plump DJs, New Order, Salt The Snail, Scan 7, The Winston Brothers, and Nina Simone.

We start with the ambient abstractions of Actress. US jazz ensemble High Pulp. Something new from the band Object Hours. And take a dive into Alice Coltrane’s spiritual sound.

We go to Detroit for some deep tech from Scan 7, and some dub tech from the NYC based Brendon Moeller. You’ve the funk rhythm of The Winston Brothers. The doom meets indie rock of Goblin Cock – the best/worse named band you’ve heard in a minute. The brand new track from local band Salt The Snail. Moby. And, A Tribe Called Quest.

There’s music from the Aussie duo Rachel Haircut. Second album era Plump DJs – featuring Lamb vocalist Lou Rhodes. A short one from Burial. And a track from Fiona Apple’s stunning record Fetch The Bolt Cutters.

As if that wasn’t enough – you’ve also got something brand new from Upsammy and percussionist Valentina Magaletti. Another track from Robber Robber’s new record. One of the great Manc bands – New Order. Cuban guitarist Eliades Ochoa. And a track from American comedian and surreal TV show host Eric Andre as BLARF.

Listen Live Thursdays 10am on Twitch.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.

The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.
