DVNT – February 2013
There is a massive wealth of superb sounds coming out at the moment – here’s just 10 tracks that are pushing my buttons.
First up is one from the many (some 18 in fact) of the bass bothering wizard Si Begg’s remix pack of his recent soundtrack for British feature film UFO. I could just have easily chosen the fantastic Ingen remix or the Tipper like Composite Technique effort, or Californian Ion Driver’s deep and glitchy or Baconhead or… see where I’m going. Gella’s remix just rolls so damn hard – it’s infectious.
I finally picked up a copy of Inigo Kennedy’s latest, Cathedral, and by jove if it isn’t a wonderful piece of cerebral synth work. Cassegrain’s forthcoming Tiamat EP on Prologue is dark n deep and I could have chosen any of the six tracks. I went with Turn Aside as it has just that little bit more grime and dust to it.
If you didn’t catch the sounds of Yaporigami on Mantis Radio #123 ft. VNDL, you’re missing out. Japanese glitch thud from Yu Miyashita that is supreme.
Also on the horizon are some remixes of Dave Clarke’s Red 2 aka Wisdom to the Wise on Boysnoize Records; and whilst Boys Noize turns in an interesting version of the classic, it’s the Dutch take on things from Steve Rachmad that grabbed me.
Darkfloor fiend Ursa turns in some of his best work yet with his remix of Patscan’s Shnumbers (catch both performing at Darkfloor Live this March 9th alongside Dead Sound vs Videohead, myself and mrseavers).
