Showing up in the Darkfloor inbox this morning was a link to new music from Croatia’s Robert Pain. It’s little secret we’re big fans of his textured take on techno – his session for Mantis Radio an essential listen.

His latest offering is Republikanci – an 8 track, unfinished, but now closed project. Whilst the reasons for not finishing the project are unclear we can assume that perhaps he exhausted the creative process on it, couldn’t get it to a point where he felt it was finished. Nevertheless, having listened to the 45 minutes I’m into it. It doesn’t feel unfinished, far from it. It works as a collection of cerebral workouts though they do feel more like loops than something more evolving. This isn’t really a problem in techno though where often the best vibes can be found lost in the loop. My pick Republikanci part VI – hard hitting spaced out.
