Episode 125
June 25, 2026

We ease into this week’s edition with some slow electronics from Torus, for Tresor. And a collab track by Tunisia’s Azu Tiwaline, and Britain’s Al Wootton.

There’s a bit of jungle flexing from dgoHn. Before a new track by Warp Records’ Kelala. Early My Bloody Valentine. New Ed O’Brien. And the early Italian disco of Raffaella Carrà.

You’ve two dubby tech tracks back to back from Phara’s In Glass, and a joint cut by Justus Köhncke and Prins Thomas.

There’s another late 90s Mo Wax hip hop cut. Out to Phil in the chat who vibed hard to that one. All before some cosmic and spiritual sounds from Egypt’s Hossam Ramzy. The great Alice Coltrane. And a current band from North Carolina, Setting.

I play another cut from Alex Amen’s wonderful record Sun of Amen (see episode 120). And tell you of my discover of the dub reggae producer icon that is Sonia Pottinger.

We’ve some obligatory jazz, from the late 1950s and Charles Mingus. New versions of old Placebo. New new Jack White. And a track from the 1960s that it makes me think of.

Hear a Ska anthem that you might not have heard in a minute. First album Skunk Anansie. Fifth album Ministry. Something early from The Fall. The intense industrial noise of Full of Hell and HEALTH. The sublime gospel voice of Sam Cooke. A track from a soundtrack to a shark documentary series, by a Norwegian born Aussie.

And to close, a track from my childhood that I only just discovered the name of and band behind it. Late to the game somewhat.

As always, have a lovely day.
Mx.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.

The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.

Mornings With is archived on Patreon where episodes are shared with tracklists.
