Episode 122
June 4, 2026
Ease in with the Norwegian duo Deaf Center before getting into full relaxation mode with 12+ minutes of Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton’s 90s ambient project Global Communication.
You’ve some early Pangaea, and an early remix by Source Direct. Before a 10 minute instrumental jazz flex by Flea. Late 70s dub reggae. And, the soul funk of The Temptations.
I play new tracks by Peter Gabriel, and The Avalanches with Jamie xx. Plus, Art of Noise, and a version of The Chemical Brother’s 1999 track Let Forever Be you might not have heard before.
We visit Detroit for cuts by Drexciya and Freda Payne. Italian techno punk by Nghtly. A brand new track by Tricky, taken from his forthcoming new record. A Tribe Called Quest. The shoegaze-y Julee Cruise channelling Trentemøller. Before the French meets Latin sound of Raquel Bitton.
Plus, late 50s era Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The African rhythm channelling 80s synth pop of Saâda Bonaire. Dust Bowl era blyes by the Memphis Jug Band. A brand new (as far as I can tell) track by Sugar Minott, produced by Victor Axelrod. And to close, the post-punk-pop of XTC.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.
The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.
