We begin with Cuban percussionist Mongo Santamaria and a wonderful piece from 1960. Before rolling into the blissful ambient tech of John Beltran, and a track taken from his forthcoming new album.

There’s a downtempo album cut from J Majik’s underrated 1997 debut LP. And two tracks from Norway. The first of which comes from the trio Kanaan. And the second, from Aiming For Enrike.

Listen out for the psych funk of Toro y Moi. And Bristol’s Kayla Painter, with a track from her debut record – an imagining of the voyage undertaken by NASA’s space probe Europa Clipper on it’s mission to Jupiter’s icy moon.

You’ve Underworld with a cut from their 5th longplayer, Beaucoup Fish. A reissued electro boogie record from the late 80s, by two members of the Detroit techno-band Inner City. Plus, everyone’s favourite amphetamine powered band The Fall. A cut from Objekt’s second full length album. And Carl Craig remixes DJ Stingray’s project Mo Wax project Urban Tribe.

Hear a perfect jungle track by Eusebeia. And, an early and beautiful IDM flex by those lads from Rochdale – Autechre.

I play tracks from two of my favourite artists – Madonna, and, Peter Gabriel. Sadly not on the same track, that would be dope, but in the case of Madge, from her William Orbit period. And in the case of the former Genesis singer, from his debut solo record.

There are tracks from several albums coming out over the next few weeks that I’m quite excited for. Maybe you will be too. Tyondai Braxton makes the complex engrossingly listenable. Ellen Allien readies up a new LP, I’ve got a 3 minute banger from that. And Argentine/Barcelona based sound artist DIMA drops her debut album shortly. Based on the track I’ve got, I cannot wait for the full record to land.

Closing out the show, Syrian produced belly dance wonderment from the late 70s. The London based Ebony Steel Band with their version of a German electro classic. The psychobilly of The Cramps. And what is sure to be a massive anthem of the summer from DJ Marky and Makoto.

Have a lovely day.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.

The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.

Mornings With is archived on Patreon where episodes are shared with tracklists.
