Let’s start at the beginning with a brand new track by Amsterdam’s Jonny Nash. Ease in with the blissful drift. Following that, a cut from Loraine James’ forthcoming new record for Hyperdub – Detached From The Rest Of You. Hear a track from the experimental ambient artist Amulet’s debut record. And a fresh new version of the title track of SPELLLING’s 2025 LP, Portrait Of My Heart, featuring Turnstile’s Brendan Yates.

Adrian Younge dazzles with a cut from his new record, melding classical with hip hop resulting in something bigger than its component parts. A wonderful record that.

I dig around Floating Points debut record, before playing another new cut, this time from Ital Tek’s forthcoming new LP. Ahead of his appearance next month in Sheffield at Electrom (May 29th, Haggler’s Corner) hear a track from Leafcutter John.

Post metal band Telepathy work with cellist Jo Quail reversioning a track from last year. And there’s a track from the Australian prog rock project Plini. Another full length I’m really looking forward to.

French band Lost In Kyiv bring it with an all riffs, all drums cut from their new record, out this summer. Plus, I dig way back to share a track by the more than the nu-metal tag they were given Mudvayne.

Hear a classic Aphex Twin track from 1997. And a new one from the Japanese band bed. Deftones. Yes of course. And something new from the Essex duo The Meffs, ahead of their new album out later this year.

Art rockers Future Islands have a new record out next month, hear a cut from it. You’ve two early 90s house tracks back to back from The Orb, and Landlord. All before French post rock band Hanry and a track from their forthcoming debut record What Came From Silence.

You’ve more new Speedy J, ahead of his new record. And equally ahead of his new record dropping soon on Blue Note, South African jazz from Nduduzo Makhathini.

Winding down Clannad and Chicane. Both featuring the amazing voice of Moya Brennan, who sadly passed away last week.

That’s your show. Thanks for listening.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.

The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.
