Dave Clarke – Wisdom to the Wise (Red 2) Remixes on Boysnoize

Cause of some disagreement at Darkfloor Towers; BNR have issued a set of alternate takes on Dave Clarke’s classic (originally recorded over 20 years ago).

Boys Noize themselves pitch the main stab up and down, creating a dissonant melody over a simple kick/clap beat. Marcel Dettmann throws in a reliably thudding main room remix which, while undoubtedly heavy, doesn’t really seem to progress anywhere much.

Turning in two remixes for the digital version Steve Rachmad presents a delay-heavy, doomy remix and a more echo-led, spaced out dub.

So why the disagreement?

A. Mochi’s re-edit completes the release and, yes, it is very similar to the original – but with some of the heftiest low end I’ve heard in a while.

Is it going to be of much interest to those who have the original?
Probably not.

Are you only going to really notice the difference on a decent system?
Probably so.

Does it still thud into my brain like the Monday hangover after a 48 hour bender?
Oh god yes…
