Worry not lemon, for this week’s episode has arrived. And today it features music from Anna Calvi, David Crosby, Deftones, and Tipper. As well as COLA, Inner City, The Mars Volta, and Special Request.

We began this week’s transmission in 1996 and two deep drum & bass tracks from Aquasky, and Boymerang. Hear another cut from Apparat’s brand new record. And something from Graham Reynold’s new dungeon synth LP. You’ve the dream pop of Ireland’s The Last Sound, and a track from Anna Calvi’s new EP, where she covers Bonnie “Prince” Billy.

You’ve tracks from Deftones, Special Request, and with one of the best track titles I’ve seen in many a moon, the experimental instrumental grime of Mattwizard.

Ahead of their new LP, I play a b-side from last year by Power Plant. You’ve the pristine tech dub shimmer of Notte Infinita (he guested on Mantis Radio 352). A double dose of Detroit from Carl Craig and Kevin Saunderson. And the singular Björk.

Plus, brand spanking new Tipper. Oh yes. Cécile McLorin Salvant. The Mars Volta. And, an 8 year old Chicago blues funk drummer called Little Ed.

Mid 70s Zamrock. Canyon ballards from David Crosby and friends. Something brand new from COLA. Early 80s dub from Scientist, featuring Sly & Robbie. And to close, a track I only today learnt was a cover of an early Motown cut. from 1959 by The Flying Lizards.

As ever, big shouts out to the live crew. It’s always a pleasure to have you all along in the chat.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.

The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.

Mornings With is archived on Patreon where episodes are shared with tracklists.
