Opening the show, the long version of Skylab by Telex’s Dan Lacksman. But, the later 70s Electronic System version, not the acoustic early 70s version I tell you about the show. Right artist, right title, wrong year, wrong track. Hey ho.
From that beautiful smooth synth flex we travel through the Cuban congas of Buena Vista Social Club’s Miguel “Angá” Díaz. Mid 70s Roxy Music. Hall & Oates. Sonic Youth. And, The Cure. Before coming right back to the present day, with a brand spanking new banger by Debby Friday. Followed by brand new dreamy Jamie xx.
Australian duo Confidence Man collab with Orbital, reworking one of their early 90s anthems. And Larry Levan lends his magic touch to a disco funker from Gwen Guthrie.
Hear a piece from the brand new album by the Chicago based trio Purelink. Beat heavy Beastie Boys. That new NIN track. And, three tracks featuring the late legend Ozzy Osbourne. Less obvious cuts perhaps, but favourites of mine.
You’ve the Argentinian tango don Astor Piazzolla. Cher. Yes, Cher. The ever wonderful sound of the Bill Evan Trio. And to close, a triple riff throwdown with tracks from Tad, brand new Deftones, and, Jeff the Brotherhood.
Our final track this week pays tribute to another artist who has passed, Eamon Downes of Liquid. So, closing out the show, the 1992 anthem, Sweet Harmony.

Each week Mx Darkfloor soundtracks your morning, setting you up for the day. Drawing on many styles and genres. From deep drone, ambient, and dub, through to jazz, grunge, jungle, and breaks. There’s side quests into downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop. As well as approachable experimental sound, African rhythms, and Asian beats. To folk, no wave, shoegaze, psych, and fuzzy sludge.
The takeaway is you never know what they’ll play, but it’ll be day friendly, good music.
