Faint Wild Light is the début solo album by James Ginzburg whose work as one half of Emptyset has been setting speakers alight for the past few years.

When I heard that his solo début was going to be something different and unexpected I couldn’t wait to hear it. And it was worth the wait – he has completely changed direction. But done it in such a way that you could have played Faint Wild Light to me every day for a year and I would not have been able to tell you who it was by.

The white noise room destroying bass and reverb have all gone to be replaced by some simply stunning acoustic guitar and his own hushed tones on vocals; listening to it now with the light fading outside and rain lashing against the window is just perfect. This is a million miles away from what I was expecting to hear but as close to perfect as anything needs to be.
