Krampfhaft – Swipe Mixtape
The latest FACT Magazine mix (at least at the time of writing, I think they publish 2 a week) has Planet Mu’s Mike Paradinas (µ-Ziq) selecting an hour of some of the freshest beats out there with a great footwork/juke session. Reportedly he has the largest collection of footwork tracks outside of the scene’s native home Chicago.
One of the artists featured on his mix is the Dutch producer Krampfhaft. Joris van Grunsven, the man behind the Krampfhaft alias lives in Utrecht and despite being on the other side of the Atlantic to the burgeoning footwork scene, is crafting some new takes on that classic 808 sound that is one of the core elements of the genre. Anyways, I took a look into his work following the FACT mix and found this rather excellent (thou short at just 34 minutes) mix for Swipe. Which I believe to be a regular event based in Holland. Quite possibly this isn’t as dark as our audience here at Darkfloor is use to but you like us are a diverse bunch with a healthy interest in multiple genres and sounds.
