Dance classic waveforms, the second wave
Some of you might recall that back in October last year I drew attention to a kickstarter campaign by Sheffield designer Alex Szabo-Haslam.
His campaign – beautifully simple waveform prints of some of dance music’s absolute classic tracks, silkscreen printed on decent paper stock.
Well he’s back, with a second series of prints.
silkscreen-printed A2 posters visualising classic dance music from 1977-2001.
My name is Alex, designer at TruthStudio, and I’d like your help to create a second series of unique posters, which visualise soundwaves generated by some of my favourite musicians. Like last year’s prints each track is crafted by hand, silkscreen printed onto a range of weighty stocks by GF Smith, then signed and numbered by me. Each bar is individually drawn: no automated tracing is used.
The original set, and it’s quick to follow expansion a few weeks later featured circular waveforms of music by Autechre, LFO, Aphex Twin, Altern8, Vibert, Forgemasters, Kraftwerk, Squarepusher and Plastikman.
He’s varying the paper stock this time around, presenting some sublime looking posters spread across some 7 sets.
Tracks included come from the likes of Leftfield, New Order, Surgeon, Dave Clarke, Baby D, 2 Bad Mice, The Prodigy, Phuture, Underground Resistance, ABC, Cabaret Voltaire, Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Donna Summer, Bronski Beat and Soft Cell.
A full list is available here. You can pledge from a £1, with a poster setting you back £30 inclusive of UK shipping. Conscious that you’ll want more than one of these, deals are available on multiple prints. You can pledge until September 12th.
