Back in May, German netlabel Zimmer Records released Try Two from Pasquale Maassen.

The penultimate release before their centenary – Try Two is a great selection of lively and breaky techno sounds from the Cologne based producer. It’s a style of techno that these days doesn’t often seem to be released. Think DJ Shufflemaster kinda sounding. Whilst the Berlin sound continues to dominate it’s refreshing to have some new tracks like these to put into sets. And this is straight down the line club music – designed for the dancefloor – it’s also got a lot of energy in that looping percussion. Fun to mix as the DJ,  fun to dance to on the floor.

Standout track is easily Helltoys – it’s big broken techno that is almost electro/breaks were it not for the rolling thud. Then there’s the bass growl.
Can’t wait to play this one loud.
