T.R.O. – I’m A Purist Vol.3

As the title cunningly suggests this is the 3rd “Purist” mix from German based producer and Furioso label owner T.R.O. This time he’s focused on broken techno / tech sounding breakbeat. So enough of me typing words and that, let’s get to the mix in question.

Yea yea I know, we’re halfway through May now. Due to my work taking over I had trouble finding the time to record a mix, yea it’s not the best excuse but it’s the real one.
Having not done a mix for March I was determined to get one out for April. And so here it [...]

MANTIS 051 + T.R.O. + FURIOSO LABEL

After growing up in Bayreuth (the Richard Wagner town) T.R.O. moved to Berlin, diving head first into it’s techno scene. Soon after, he became interested in the much smaller but very friendly local breaks scene, especially the legendary Dangerous Drums nights. Now addicted to this sound, his own productions changed from techno to breakbeat, too. In 2004 his début release “Rec” appeared on the Dangerous Drums compilation “It’s a Berlin thing 3” and in 2005 he got the first of several tracks signed on Dr. Schmidt’s label Maschinen Musik (Dr. Schmidt and his label were featured on MANTIS 008). While he still enjoys the full range of breakbeat music, increasingly he’s become interested in other broken beat styles, primarily dubstep and garage and their influence is being absolved into his productions.

T.R.O.’s own label Furioso is dedicated to the idea of merging breaks, dubstep, 2step, and bassline house. With artists like Sharps, Blackmass Plastics, KingThing, and Nicolas Bourbaki it has quickly become a melting pot for future bass music.
