It’s Friday, so that means it’s time for a mix with a nod to the rave, and in this particular case we’re looking at some classic techno with some burgeoning rave from back in 1996. Patrick Walker is a member of Forward Strategy Group who with fellow members Smear, Retail & Leisure and Adrian Ross [...]

The weekend is imminent, and this is a new mix from the one known as Jay Pace, think of it as putting you in the mood. He’s been getting praise and support on his recent productions from amongst others: Richie Hawtin. Rammed and fit to burst with classic gems and a few more recent pieces.

Chrissy Murderbot’s Year of Mixtapes Week 30: 1993 Rave
I’ve done a few of these rave / jungle /happy hardcore tapes already, and here is another. I should’ve probably called it “the year in UK rave”, because there aren’t any non-British tracks on here. For those unfamiliar with the whole story arc, 1993 was the year that UK rave really developed into what we would recognize as jungle and happy hardcore. I’m really into stuff from this transitional era, when those two genres existed side-by-side, before they really split from each other. Here’s a tape of my fave tunes.
Acid Kirk – Live at Montini, Belgium . 11 Nov ‘94

I came across this gem from on the BOA boards and it’s only fair I share it. Acid Kirk performing at Montini, Belgium in 1994.
Want some proper acid techno from back in the day? It’s on a slightly deeper rolling vibe than an all out acid assault, but it still sounds mighty fresh. Not bad considering when you consider it’s 15 years old.

Came across this rather tidy mix by a guy known as G-Bo. I’ve got one of his older mixes too (which I’ll dig out and put on here). I don’t know much about the guy other than being based in Belfast. What I do know is he has some great taste in tunes and mixes [...]

DVNT – Live at Summer Session Soton
posted by DVNT on August 25th, 2009 under Gigs
Recording of my set from 4th July 2009. I was down performing at one of the Void vs Brap Oxjam gigs (which are always great fun, plus you’re raising money for charity). Had loads of fun and got quite drunk by the end of the evening. At which point Cilla Black became the topic of conversation for hours. Please don’t ask why or how…
Massive shouts to the Soton crew for putting on a great party. The gig was nice and busy and despite being a small basement room, it opened out in a huge beer garden. The rig was extreme. Took up a 1/3 of the room. Suffice to say it was bloody loud.
