I trust you all had a great Christmas and a messy New Year. Back on the 18th December a new weekly post started on darkfloor.co.uk, the Friday Found Sound.
A collaborative post, comprising of some of the weeks net label releases, free track giveaways and anything else in the style of darkfloor electronica for free.
RTSW11: Vadz – Nuclear Volgodonsk

Showcased on the last MANTIS of 2009, (MANTIS 052 + VADZ), Vadz released this great EP on his own Russian-Techno.com netlabel.
Once upon a time i was working on a radiostation and we had a task to record some speeches for Emergency Department. So, an actor from the local theater was invited and all the instructions were spoken over the microphone. One record was about what to do if an incident on the Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant (aka Rostov Atomic Power Plant) happens. The text was scary and actual (Volgodonsk is about 260 km from Taganrog) and, of course, i decided to use it. That’s how the Nuclear Volgodonsk trilogy appeared. First, there were only 3 tracks, 2 with no vocals and sounding almost the same (part 1 & 2) and the third one, totally different, with instructions. Plus, DJ Spell from Moscow made a mind-blowing dancefloor-friendly-acid remix (which was then taken by Diggarama netlabel as a part of Mystique EP). I tried to release the whole EP, but labels i got connections with, showed no interest at that moment.
Time passed, i re-mastered all the tracks and added 2 more, similar in emotional sense, and decided to finally put everything together as an integral story. Listen to the warnings and be aware of the Power of Atom! Amen!

Cluster One – The Things that Move EP

This is a very short but also very nice EP from one William Mathijsen a.k.a. Cluster One, a dutch musician working between Ambient IDM, Dubstep and other urban musical languages. William started to compose music at the age of 12 and it took him 5 years to start making electronic music at a ’serious level’. IDM, Ambient, Experimental, Minimal and Acid were the styles that most influenced his musical journey.
‘The Things That Move EP’ is an introspective downbeat/brokenbeat experience in two tracks. Short but good!» – Pedro Leitão

Dark, slow and ebbing deep ethereal sound. Another 2 track EP, but well worth checking out on those long and cold Winter nights.
