Wasserfall & The Automatic Message – My Father The Hunter EP / bleepsequence

Despite having a few of the other releases on bleepsequence in my collection, this release flew past my radar a few weeks back. I’m delighted to have taken some time to invest in Wasserfall + The Automatic Message‘s 4 track EP; My Father The Hunter.

What I’m presented with is very well produced, rich, rewarding sound. The opener: Cathartes Aura is perhaps best described as sequenced sound design. With the remaining tracks fitting into the classification of dub techno. The texture of sound is such that it verges on narrative; the 4 tracks, 2 original and 2 remixes, are constructed partly at least with found sound, lending them at points an interest level which is seemingly so absence from so much electronic music these days. I guess you could say I like this EP, by Wasserfall + The Automatic Message, in fact I’m almost sure you could. If anything, grab the sublime Cathartes Aura.

We’re proud to present this collaborative effort connecting minds between Norway and Canada, resulting in a deft and visceral blend of found sound, distorted space, and pulsing dub techno. Accompanied by a striking video piece, My Father The Hunter brings forth a great deal of emotional depth with its unique visual and aural storytelling styles, and it’s textures and dynamics tell a mysterious story you’ll just have to decode for yourself.
