A previously unreleased remix of the mighty and missed Coil by one of the stalwarts of British techno: Surgeon, is now available for download.

As you’d expect with Surgeon remixing Coil, this is something very special.

Surgeon says of his version of Coil’s Teenage Lightning:

To accompany the 2001 re-releases of their first 3 albums, Coil decided to also release a vinyl box set edition which would include a 12″ of remixes by Autechre and Surgeon.

The remixes were completed and approved by Coil, but the project stayed on the shelf.

Sadly since then both John Balance and Peter Christopherson have both died and it’s with the greatest respect to their memories that I make this remix publicly available.

It’s no secret Surgeon is quite the fan of the beautiful and unique sound of Coil; following the untimely passing of Christopherson back in November 2010 he shared his tribute mix recorded shortly after at London night Bleep43.
