free track: King Cannibal – Blackout

King Cannibal is one of the original darkfloor soliders. Indeed the King Cannibal alias was premièred on our very own MANTIS Radio show (the 2nd ever broadcast). I’m a bit late to the game on this one, seeing as he uploaded it over 20days ago. Nevertheless, if like me, you missed it, grab this very [...]

Friday Found Sound

It’s Friday, which means another Found Sound, the weekly round up of free and legit darkfloor themed music downloads. This week we have:

DVNT – NOV27 HACKNEY WAREHOUSE

As the title suggests, back on November 27th I played at a warehouse party in Hackney, well Hackney Wick. This is the recording of my set. Coming in at just shy of 90minutes and thundering along at a steady 140bpm it’s rammed full of, in my humble opinion, rolling, heavy bass licked tracks. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed mixing it.

King Cannibal – Chaos ADD mix

Originally recorded for the long running Knowledge Magazine. Just check the tracklist this on this beast.

MANTIS presents: King Cannibal – Life on the Beat

The 5th MANTIS:presents: and we’ve got one hell of musical punch. Up on the plate is King Cannibal (aka ZILLA, who launched his first promo mix as King Cannibal back on MANTIS 002) with 30 minutes and over 80 drum n bass cuts.

King Cannibal – Riddim & Bruise Mix

Filth merchant King Cannibal has made available his latest radio mix.

From the man himself:

The mix was put together for Combat Recordings Riddim n Bruise show on SubFM and was aired early Jan 09. This mix is one of my favourites in a long while and was put together with the intention of justifying buying records that although i love rarely listen to or playout – at least i’m using them in a mix.

MANTIS 016 the ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL (1st Year)

Can you believe MANTIS is now 1 year old. MANTIS started last May and was a 3 hour monthly show, now we’re a bi-weekly 2hour show and we’re showing no signs of slowing down. It has been a wicked year for us and I am most proud to have been producing such a well received show. We’ve had some seriously amazing showcases from all over the electronic music scene. Each with a leaning to the darker, deeper sounds. A massive thanks to all who have listened in, downloaded, podcasted, sent us abuse through the forums and all those silent listeners. An even bigger thanks to all of the 16 showcased artists, producers and DJs we’ve been so lucky in providing you guys with. Please show your support by keeping these artists in work by buying their tunes and seeing them perform.

MANTIS 002 + JNR HACKSAW + ZILLA aka KING CANNIBAL

Jnr Hacksaw has been a producer of twisted funk to bassheads for well over a decade. In the early 90s Jnr was a founder member of Bristol’s legendary acid funk club The Dig In. Later he joined forces with Elektrik Orgasm one of the countries foremost free party movements and Psychedelic techno label.

This MANTIS also heralded the start of a new alias for ZILLA. Art school dropout ZILLA (government name Dylan Richards) began working on his own brand of super-evolved mixes towards the latter end of the nineties as a reaction to the glut of uninspiring mix compilations that had began to flood the industry.
