Roland – Aqual(o)unge 4 [Machtdose]

Lush vibes flow out from start to finish. Released on Machtdose by Roland, this is the 4th in the ongoing series.

Acid Kirk – Live at Montini, Belgium . 11 Nov ‘94

I came across this gem from on the BOA boards and it’s only fair I share it. Acid Kirk performing at Montini, Belgium in 1994.

Want some proper acid techno from back in the day? It’s on a slightly deeper rolling vibe than an all out acid assault, but it still sounds mighty fresh. Not bad considering when you consider it’s 15 years old.

Dead Sound – Atomic Jam warm up live set

On November 21st, Dead Sound will be warming up for Rob Hall at Atomic Jam in Birmingham.

…a huge honour for me as its by far my favourite event…

…here’s a set if anyone is interested in the kinda thing I’ll be doing… all live mainly loop based from many a tune I’ve done… kinda like DE9 in the sense that theres about 4 loops going of at the same time…

mmiinewspipe . midnightminustwo

Those in the know will already be aware that on top of running all things MANTIS and darkfloor electronica, I co-run the music label midnightminustwo, with a great producer Clodhoppa. On last week’s radio show, OG was our guest and it was so timed as to celebrate his début release with us at mmii.

Here then is our most recent newsletter:

Modul – Mantener Mix

Modul are based in Krasnodar, Russian Federation, and consists of 3 members. Evgeny Shchukin, Evgeny Fomin and Alexander Tochilkin. Together they produce deep IDM electronica, with releases on Phonocake, Electrosound and Notype.

Brendon Moeller . DJ Mix September 2009

Based in New York, Brendon Moeller (aka Beat Pharmacy, Echologist) has been producing music since ‘94. His music has seen release on Francois K’s Deep Space Media; Third ear Records, Echocord, Mule Musiq, Leena Music, Eskimo recordings and more. Deep, dub rich techno, taking influence from jazz, afrobeat and beyond.

This is a mix he did for the Kompakt label guys, celebrating his own Steadfast label and it’s first release: Escape.

MANTIS 049 + OG

Up this week, coinciding with his debut EP release on midnightminustwo: OG

OG first picked up on production when he was 16, within a year of buying his first set of turntables. Staying up until stupid o’clock on schoolnights listening to loops and beats for hours on end honed his production style. Inspired primarily by the works of Hybrid, BT and Way Out West, it was the discovery of breakbeat that really fuelled him to find his way in music.

Picking up influences from dubstep, breaks and drum & bass whilst never losing that trancey edge, OG’s first EP is out on midnightminustwo recordings on October 16th and the follow-up is in the works.

OG also co-hosts the bi-weekly No Skool Breaks show with Harka on NSB Radio – playing a variety of breaks, dubstep, drum & bass and techno.
